NEW! Pregnancy Pilates on the Ball

with Nicky Gladman

5 week course starts Saturday 7th August 10 - 11am
Only 6 places available. Cost £75

Nicky trained and received her Pre/Post-natal Specialist Pilates Certification from Caroline Anthony of
The Center for Women's Fitness in Delaware, renowned for her knowledge, experience and dedication to helping women maintain the condition of their bodies throughout and after pregnancy.

Pilates is an excellent method of exercise for the pregnant woman.  But a general Pilates class is not appropriate during this important time.  Certain exercises and positions are contraindicated and particular emphasis is important for maximum benefits: such as a neutral spine in all positions (but not lying on your back for continuous periods of time after the fourth month), and an effective breathing technique (modified during the third trimester) which ensures a good supply
of oxygen to both mother and baby. Small classes are also important at this time to enable individual attention.

We will focus on exercises that open and release the body while maintaining its strength and integrity.  Our aim during pregnancy is to maintain the alignment of the body, particularly the pelvis (to avoid common ailments such as back ache, and assist with birth), and safely maintain the strength of the abdominals and pelvic floor.
(Also we will have fun and keep the arms, legs and bottom toned!).

You will be asked to complete a health questionnaire before the course starts and in certain circumstances GP's approval may be required.  You need to be at least 14 weeks pregnant to join the course please (insurance requirements).  The course is suitable all the way up to birth (modifications will be made as necessary).
